17 kilometres of spectacular and rugged sandstone cliffs situated between Inverloch and Cape Paterson. Opportunities for all types of recreation including diving and beach activities. Note: The sancturary and conservation zones extend 1km out to sea to preserve marine life. Fishing is not permitted between The Oaks and Eagles Nest Flat Rocks: Opposite RACV Resort rock hoppers delight at low tide. Smugglers Cave: Water washed sandy floored caverns, accessible at low tide, flooded at high tide (be aware of tide movements). Eagles Nest: Most recognised landmark in the area-resembles the top half of the map of Australia. Panoramic ocean views. Shack Bay: Boardwalk to clean, sandy beach, great spot for family picnic. Anderson Inlet takes its name from Samuel Anderson who settled on the Bass River at Bass in 1835, six weeks after Batman and Fawkner landed in Port Phillip. Activities never cease on Anderson Inlet which is a haven for boating enthusiasts, surfers, water skiers, windsurfers, scuba divers, fishing and yachting. | ||||

Shop 1/2 8 Williams Street Inverloch VIC 3996 Anderson Inlet, the most southerly mangrove habitat in Australia provides an excellent environment for trevally, flathead, pinkie snapper, mullet, salmon, tailor, whiting, estuary perch, bream, mulloway, gummy shark and elephant fish. At the mouth of Screw Creek, along Mahers Landing and Doyles Road, there are natural bait grounds of Bass Yabbies and tube worm that can be pumped for recreational fishing. The Tarwin River produces mullet, trevally and tommy rough on the moving tide. Venus Bay Surf Beach is one of the last remaining pipi colonies in Victoria. Observing the hole and gutter formations on this 25km stretch of beach is crucial to getting the best results from beach fishing. The winter months produce sensational sport fishing for Australian salmon and with schools of fish up to 3kg. Every angler can contribute to the welfare of the environment on which the sport depends. Discarded fishing line and empty food and drink containers should be disposed of thoughfully as not to cause littering and to avoid possible injury to people or animals. | ||||

The Mouth of Andersons Inlet + 10 min to Port Phillip Heads Datum point for our tides, from then on in: Inverloch Boat ramp + 20 min Stevie's Gutter + 45 min Mahers Landing + 1 hour Venus Bay Boat Ramp + 1 hour 30 minutes Mouth of Tarwin River +2 hours, Tarwin River, at the pub + 3 hours. Highway Bridge Tarwin River + 3 hours 30 minutes. (Note these are annual averages only and vary each day. Differences over 60 minutes must be treated with caution, Courtesy of Port of Melbourne). There are four boat launching facilities for Anderson Inlet. Inverloch Boat Ramp larger boats are advised to enter from the Esplanade (charges apply). Mahers Landing provides good access but does require a person to hold the boat whilst parking the car and boat trailer. Fishermans Jetty Venus Bay boats to 14 foot can comfortably access the inlet 2 hours either side of the tide. Tarwin River boat ramp is best 4 hours either side of the high tide, but access to the inlet can be limited to 2 hours either side of the high tide. | ||||
